Most people asked us: How to calculate the tonnage or HP (horsepower) for Air Conditioning equipment and Cold Room refrigeration system? Well, actually there are many aspects can affect the cooling performance of refrigeration equipment, cooling capacity is the most important one. As our 15+ years experience, believe we can provide the most suitable solution for your project.
Notice: Many factors will influence the cooling performance, such as: room set temperature, ambient temperature, humidity, ventilation, installation height, etc. So please tell us more details about your project, we will give you the most suitable solution. For more request, please contact us freely.
Notice: The actual needed cooling capacity (btu) for a room will be affected by many factors, like: ambient temperature, altitude, humidity, location, ventilation, etc, please contact us salesman for help. Residential air conditioner cooling capacity normally included: 9000btu, 12000btu, 18000btu, 24000btu, 30000btu, 36000btu, etc; commerical air conditioner cooling capacity can customize. Contact us and show your request please.
Question: How to calculate which HP(horsepower) refrigeration system ( condensing unit or unit cooler) should need for my cold room?
Answer: Well, 1) calculate your room dimension: Length*Width*Height, 2) divided by coefficient.
Low set temp (<-20°C): Volume/11
High and medium set temp(>-15°C): Volume/14
For example:
1) Cold room size: 6*6*3m, room set temp -20°C
So you need Refrigeration HP= 108m3 / 11 = 9.8 ≈ 10hp
2) Cold room size: 6*6*3m, room set temp -5°C
So you need Refrigeration HP= 108m3 / 15 = 7.2 ≈ 7hp
Cold room panel is the essential component for cold room, but many people don’t know how to calculate the whole panel area for a cold room? First, you should calculate all the 6 sides of the cold room: roof + wall + floor. Second, you should know the set temperature for the cold room, because different set temp use different thickness panel (means different price):
Panel Thickness | Panel Material | Panel Connection | Cold Room Set Temp |
---|---|---|---|
75mm | PU/PIR | Camlock / Slip Joint | >0°C |
100mm | PU/PIR | Camlock / Slip Joint | 0 ~ -10°C |
150mm | PU/PIR | Camlock / Slip Joint | -10 ~ -25°C |
200mm | PU/PIR | Camlock / Slip Joint | <-25°C |
Attention: Panel cost will vary due to the raw materials’ cost changing. So before you calculate the total cost for your cold room project, please contact us to verify the newest unit price.
